The primary goals of A New Way of Life’s legal programs are to increase employment opportunities for people with past convictions by helping people clean up their criminal records and challenge unfair employment discrimination. Through advocacy, we work to expand the legal protections for workers with past convictions, enforce the protective laws that already exist, and educate employers and job seekers about the law.

El Nido provides services at schools, community locations and the home, focusing its efforts in five core program areas: Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment, Parent Education & Family Development, Teen Parent Family Services, and Youth Development.

El Nido is honored to lead the FamilySource Center efforts in Pacoima and partner in this collaborative project with some of the best organizations in the San Fernando Valley. Collectively, we have created a true neighborhood center, offering services including; counseling, parent education, employment assistance, legal aid, financial literacy, adult education, tutoring/homework assistance, recreational and cultural activities, youth leadership development, and community events.

Public Counsel provides a wide variety of legal services to low-income individuals, nonprofits and small businesses.

SCLARC contracts with the State Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. One of our goals is to ensure that individuals who are eligible to receive services (consumers) are assisted in living the highest quality life possible in their communities.

LAFLA is the first place thousands of poor people turn to when they need legal assistance for a crisis that threatens their shelter, health and livelihood. Here is an overview of what we do: Eviction Defense Center; Economic Stability; Housing and Communities; Supporting Families; Asian & Pacific Islander Community Outreach Project; and offer Self-Help Legal Access Centers.

The Center, in collaboration with local volunteer attorneys, provides free confidential legal consultations with state-licensed attorneys on Wednesdays and Fridays at The Center. Consultations are by appointment only. This program receives no direct funding, is entirely volunteer-driven, and is a response to a direct need in our community. During the appointment, clients can discuss any legal issue they have a question about and receive confidential advice.
