L.A. Youth at Work (LAYAW) is an initiative to help Los Angeles's young adults obtain crucial entry-level job training and work experiences. Through experience, youth are empowered with the tools to obtain and retain meaningful employment, and to educate and encourage business to invest in their communities by creating job and internship opportunities. LAYAW serves as a stepping stone to future high-skill, high-wage employment. Through the Work Readiness Certification, LAYAW is able to streamline the hiring process by identifying a work-ready pool of applicants.

Services at the centers include comprehensive case management, individual and family counseling and mental health therapy, job development and placement, legal help, transportation help, medical help, children’s programs, legal help, job development and placement, help with utility bills (LIHEAP) and access to other appropriate programs in our organization and with other community agencies. The South Los Angeles Community Service Center houses a Family Source Center consortium that is designed to streamline access to services for people in need of attaining jobs and keeping their housing.

The Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP) provides special services to youth between the ages of 15 and 25 to assist them in achieving their educational and vocational goals. While working with peer advisors, youth clients interact with professional individuals who have similar paths, perspectives, and educational goals by providing referrals to supportive services, workshops, career coaching, employment preparation, and other training and community outreach efforts.

Year Up is a one-year, full-time training and internship program located on the West Los Angeles College campus. Our mission is to close the opportunity divide by providing young adults ages 18 – 24 with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

The Career Technical Education (CTE) program provides competency-based and academically integrated career training in 15 industry sectors. CTE courses prepare students for entry-level employment, career advancement, and industry certification.

Permanent housing planning, job development, educational/vocational services, life skills, case management, life coaching, and financial literacy.
