Jordan’s Disciples Community Service is committed to preventing and ending homelessness by assisting in the development of short-term and long-term Transitional Housing Programs, affordable housing, and supportive services for the homeless and potentially homeless throughout Los Angeles County. When it’s hard to get the basic necessities of life, you need an organization that helps you get back on your feet.
LAMP offers permanent housing linked to wraparound health and social services for the most vulnerable homeless individuals. What sets Lamp Community apart from other service providers in Los Angeles and Skid Row is its expertise in outreaching to those who have the most complex, high-barrier conditions contributing to their homelessness, including untreated, severe and persistent mental illness and physical disabilities including chronic disease.
The program provides emergency and transitional shelter for single women and men 18 years and older. Women who are pregnant, ex-offenders, people who have recently been released from the hospital, and people who have a mental or emotional disability are considered on a case-by-case basis. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Department provides the following benefits and services to low-income residents of Los Angeles County: temporary financial assistance and employment services for families and individuals; free and low-cost health care insurance for families with children, pregnant women and aged/blind/disabled adults; food benefits for families and individuals; in-home services for elderly and disabled individuals; and financial assistance and advocacy for federal disability benefits for disabled individuals.
The Los Angeles Mission provides primary emergency services available free of charge to all in need.
