John Muir Charter School is a statewide WASC accredited high school diploma program that serves youth 16-24 that have been pushed out of the traditional education system. We offer a rigorous academic program with full-time accredited teachers and academic tutors in tandem with career and college readiness programs at our school sites.

The Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC) is a nationally recognized organization serving over 2,500 foster youth and youth on probation at fifty sites in Los Angeles, Compton, Pomona, Hacienda La Puente, Lynwood, the Antelope Valley, Long Beach and Montebello Unified School Districts. CYFC has designed an Academic, Remediation, Intervention, and Support Services Education Model for Foster Youth (A.R.I.S.S.E), which provides tutoring, academic support, and support services for foster youth.

Activities include: Vocational Support; Education Support; Art and Fitness Classes; Life-skills Training; Counseling Services; Peer and Support Groups; Anger Management Groups; LGBTQ Support; Housing Referral; Substance Abuse Recovery Referral; Supportive Services for Homeless Youth.

AYE programs provide a comprehensive range of employment services for at-risk youth, including: classroom training; paid internships; mentoring; workforce preparation; support services; job placement; occupational training; career planning; work-based learning.

LGBTQA Youth Council – The LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally) is to build leadership and community organizing skills in order to create a safer, more inclusive and supportive spaces at home, school and in the communities in which we live. We meet every 2nd Monday of the month at Mi Centro LGBTQ Community Center (553 S. Clarence St., Los Angeles, CA. 90033) in Boyle Heights. Monthly gatherings include presentations, workshops, leadership training, college application support, field trips and social events.

AltaMed’s youth programs provide teens with health information and education with the goal of decreasing the number of teenage pregnancies and improving health outcomes. Our programs are designed to help teen mothers and their partners understand the health, social and economic challenges of having a child at a young age. In addition to health education, we provide parenting education and support for continued educational advancement. The independent studies program provides students with packets to turn in once a week.

The Children’s Collective Inc.’s youth programs assist youth and teens during the critical transition between childhood and adulthood. Services include: After School Program; Summer Youth Camp; Sports and Recreation; Basic Skills Tutorial; Nutrition Education and Obesity Training; Workforce and Financial Literacy Training; Teen Pregnancy Prevention; and Adovcacy for Youth Offenders.

Children of the Night is a privately funded non-profit organization that provides services including on-site school and college placement program, life-skills education, and ongoing case management. Children of the Night With Out Walls” (WOW) offers access to an education by providing free online GED assessments, GED tutoring, funding for the GED Test, support documents for registration to test for the GED and transportation to the GED testing sites throughout the United States.

Symbolically housed in the oldest and last surviving structure of Los Angeles’ original Chinatown, the 7,200 square foot Chinese American Museum (CAM) embodies a cultural and physical link to the past, as well as a promising point of entry for the city’s multicultural future.
