This program is offered to grandparents and/or other relative caregivers who are parenting again. In a casual, small group setting several topics are explored including: Grandparenting and the law, school enrollment including special education and early intervention, guardianship and adoption and financial challenges. This weekly class is offered on-site at Toberman Neighborhood Center by a trained facilitator.

Penny Lane Centers North Hollywood

Alexandria House

Alexandria House is a transitional residence for single women and women with children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing. We provide hope and hospitality to approximately 24 women and children depending on family size. Women living in Alexandria House benefit from a supportive community and an encouraging environment.

Institute for Maximun Human Potential

Search Keywords

The class provides a basis for teaching parents how to manage their children’s behavior effectively and how to intervene with specific child and adolescent problems. The 16 week and 7 module class helps develop effective intervention methods for children, parents and families in crisis. A certificate is given at the end of the sixteen (16) sessions. Classes are in English, and are held on Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Open to all ages.

Visiting Nurse Program

A bilingual Registered Nurse makes home visits to teen mothers who have complicated pregnancies or medically fragile infants. The nurse provides assessments, education and hands-on care to promote children’s optimal health and development. Prenatal care classes and mothers’ support group led by the nurse gives teens a forum in which they can share information with each other while learning about baby care, healthy behaviors and pregnancy prevention.

Project Fatherhood

Search Keywords

The program provides support, therapy, job-readiness training, and parenting education to fathers and significant others of at-risk children to increase father involvement in child rearing and strengthen the father-child relationship. Project Fatherhood specializes in working with fathers whose children are in the child welfare system.
