The Access Center provides services to 3,600 unduplicated homeless clients each year, working to move clients from having no regular nighttime residence to residing in a stable facility, with ID, immediate needs and benefits assistance in place. Homeless Access Center and Shelter Plus Care programs assist homeless individuals and their families by providing supportive and educational services, case management, family counseling, drug counseling, medical and mental health services, and temporary shelter, transitional housing, and long-term Section 8 housing.
WLCAC has established a seamless, no-fail, job training, job placement, and post-employment training system for youth, adults, seniors, veterans, and dislocated workers as defined by the federal Workforce Investment Act. The Youth Services System prepares South Central and surrounding community residents for the labor force by providing job readiness, tutoring, GED assistance, post-secondary preparation, paid work experience, on-the-job-training, customized training, leadership development, case management, job advancement, and supportive services.
Women’s Care Cottage is an Independent/Transitional living program assisting homeless young women coming out of emergency shelters, foster care and probation. Women’s Care Cottage is a safe place where young women who have been either critically homeless or in the criminal justice or foster care system can start a new life and develop the ability to live independently with pride and dignity while accomplishing their goals.
