Year Up is a one-year, full-time training and internship program located on the West Los Angeles College campus. Our mission is to close the opportunity divide by providing young adults ages 18 – 24 with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

We have two main campuses, Venice Skills Center and Emerson Campus as well as additional campuses across West Los Angeles. We offer low-cost classes in the following areas: CTE (Career Technical Eduction) courses designed for those who want to upgrade their job skills or train for a new career.

El Proyecto WorkSource Center Sun Valley

El Proyecto WorkSource Sun Valley (EPWS) “Provides a One-Stop Job Preparation, Skills development-Training, Job Placement, Job Transition and Job Retention Services to 18 and older residents. Staffing services are provided in collaboration with business-employers to assist businesses that are experiencing challenges in finding qualified candidates. EPWS will assist in identified local residents that are job ready, and match the skill sets required in occupational growth sectors.

College Bridge Program

The Bridge Program provides University level education for students who may not otherwise have access to higher education. Each week, Bridge students attend class to begin college, to earn up to 15 transferrable units of university credit, and to study philosophy, literature, art history, writing, and urban studies – all free of charge. Receive free textbooks and supplies for classes – even bus tokens to help you get to and from class.

Guardian Scholars Program

The goal is to assist, support, nurture, engage, and motivate current and former foster youth in their journey to obtain an associate of arts degree, certificate, or transfer to a four-year university through various campus and community resources.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is made available by federal and state governments and private sources in the form of grants, scholarships, employment, and loans. This assistance makes it possible for students to continue their education beyond high school, even if they and/or their family cannot meet the full cost of the college they choose to attend.
