Safe Place for Youth

To inspire change in a young person’s life, we at Safe Place for Youth engage, build trust, and provide care and support to youth experiencing homelessness, so that the youth, not their situations, define their lives. Our robust continuum of care addresses the unique needs of this population through assertive street outreach, low barrier drop-in services, health and wellness programming, case management, and education and employment services.

Jenesse Center, Inc

Jenesse’s mission is to provide victims of domestic violence and their children with a comprehensive centralized base of support that is culturally responsive, and ensures their transition from immediate crisis to stability and self-sufficiency. Jenesse provides the following services: shelter, domestic violence crisis hotline, case management, vocational education program, mental health program, legal services, children and adolescent's enrichment Program, health, transportation, and educational programs.

Pasadena Office | Transitional Independent Living Program

Category

The Hathaway-Sycamores model for supported independent living utilizes a “scattered site” approach. Each youth and a roommate share a two-bedroom apartment with rent subsidized on a graduated schedule over a two-year period. Other financial assistance includes bus passes and food vouchers. A support team, comprised of a youth advocate (former foster youth), case manager, emancipation clinician, youth advocate manager and program manager, works collaboratively with youth to identify personal goals and develop a strategic plan to achieve those goals.

Lancaster Community Homeless Shelter

Category

The Lancaster Community Shelter or as we know it Grace Shelter Services is the only full-service homeless shelter in the Antelope Valley that serves single men, single women and families. We provide a safe place to sleep, two hot meals, case management, supportive services and transportation to and from several social serviice agencies near the shelter. Clients take showers daily, have opportunities to do laundry and have secure lockers to store their possessions. The shelter also provides job training and educational opportunities.

Gardena Valley Assembly of God | Food Pantry

Our offices are located in the St. Martin de Porres Center at the rear of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Hts. Five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The EAC Staff sees to the emergency needs of the homeless and those at risk. This could be a hot slice of pizza, a sack lunch, showers, hygiene kits, bus tokens, gas vouchers, motel vouchers for families and counseling and advocacy for those who need help. The clients often use the EAC office address to receive their mail.
