Welcome Baby is a voluntary, universal home visitation program available to all pregnant women who deliver at California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) and live within a 5 mile radius.Welcome Baby is part of Best Start LA - a multi-year investment created by First 5 LA that aims to shape, strengthen and support Los Angeles County neighborhoods by building resources and providing access to activities that improve the wellbeing, development and care experienced by pregnant women, new parents and children age three and under.

Nurse-Family Partnership® is an evidence-based community health charity that helps transform the lives of low-income, first-time mothers and their families. NFP is a non-profit charitable organization that partners registered nurses with first time moms early in their pregnancy and provides ongoing home visitations through their child’s second birthday.
A bilingual Registered Nurse makes home visits to teen mothers who have complicated pregnancies or medically fragile infants. The nurse provides assessments, education and hands-on care to promote children’s optimal health and development. Prenatal care classes and mothers’ support group led by the nurse gives teens a forum in which they can share information with each other while learning about baby care, healthy behaviors and pregnancy prevention.
