Special Service for Groups, Trauma Recovery Center is a program under the division of the Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS). The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is a community based service offering Los Angeles County and surrounding cities trauma-informed, comprehensive treatment, and resources for victims, witnesses, and derivatives of crime. TRC differs from other agencies in that we focus specifically on victims, derivatives, and witnesses of a crime providing brief treatment, one to one support, and system navigation.
Highly-trained peer advocates offer support, information and advocacy to young people who have questions or concerns about their dating relationships. We also provide information and support to concerned friends and family members, teachers, counselors, service providers and members of law enforcement. SHIELDS’ Exodus Program provides a unique model of substance abuse treatment and mental health services, in which comprehensive family-centered treatment, case management and related social services are provided to residents living with their families in an 86-unit apartment complex in the city of Compton. WLCAC has established a seamless, no-fail, job training, job placement, and post-employment training system for youth, adults, seniors, veterans, and dislocated workers as defined by the federal Workforce Investment Act. The Youth Services System prepares South Central and surrounding community residents for the labor force by providing job readiness, tutoring, GED assistance, post-secondary preparation, paid work experience, on-the-job-training, customized training, leadership development, case management, job advancement, and supportive services.
Women’s Care Cottage is an Independent/Transitional living program assisting homeless young women coming out of emergency shelters, foster care and probation. Women’s Care Cottage is a safe place where young women who have been either critically homeless or in the criminal justice or foster care system can start a new life and develop the ability to live independently with pride and dignity while accomplishing their goals.
